Don’t get me wrong…birthdays are magnificent, but for some reason I typically shy away from celebrating my own. It has nothing to do with the fear of getting older, but I have been finding that ever since I have been growing older that I am more and more okay with the idea of having a fun day for myself. With this being said, I managed to have a fantastic weekend surrounded by friends all orchestrated by my guy. The entire weekend was relaxing and full of delicious food and summer themed beverages. Here are a just a few of the highlights…
- Shopping for nothing in particular on a sunny day in Chicago (and finding a lot of great deals!)
- Spending an afternoon sitting outside in a park near our apartment reading books and catching a few rays.
- Dinner at Longman & Eagle…always a pleasure! The food was spot-on as always and they introduced a few new fun drinks to the menu. I had a delicious drink that consisted of tea infused sugar syrup, whiskey, lemon, & ginger beer. Absolutely amazing!
- Evening showing of Bridesmaids which was a great way to end the day. A few laughs with friends and then headed back home to catch up on some sleep.
Thank you to everyone who was able to celebrate this weekend and I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such a great support system. I am one year older, but how can I not look forward to another year when I have so much to look forward to?
I found my wedding dress over the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went into this past weekend with the hopes that I would get a better idea of what I wanted and get to try on a few gorgeous dresses in the meantime. Not the case for this girl! I sat down with the sales rep to describe my personal style and what elements I wanted in a dress and then…poof!!…the most beautiful dress I have ever seen entered my dressing room. It’s true…I ended up buying the first dress I tried on and I couldn’t be happier!!! I did try on two other dresses, but let’s be honest, when you find your dream dress….everything else looks sad and boring!
We’ve still got plenty of time until the actual wedding so I’m excited to begin the other fun aspects of planning (and finally get to enjoy them for myself!), but in the end I get to marry this guy and that trumps a wedding dress any day.
I survived the hot yoga class and I’m living to tell about it. :) I know it might be too early to say this, but I might be obsessed. There is just something about a 105 degree room lit by candlelight that puts me at ease. Plus, I’m fully convinced that I sweated out the 2 full large bottles of water I drank during the 75 minute class…SERIOUSLY!
I was nervous about entering into the world of yoga with all of its crazy poses (at one point I was seriously like, “What is the pigeon pose? And happy baby?? Come on!”), but in the end I left the studio feeling surprisingly refreshed. After a long run or hard work-out I usually feel like death, but last night I was actually full of energy which was a nice change. I got a free week of yoga from Corepower Yoga so I’m looking forward to hitting up a few classes next week and seeing where this takes me. I highly suggest checking it out if you are curious because let’s be honest…who can say no to a free week of yoga classes?
